The world's largest community of 3D-printed homes is taking shape in the heart of Texas. Wolf Ranch, a community in Georgetown, Texas, has just unveiled its first completed house, showcasing the advancements in construction technology and ushering in a new era of affordable and sustainable housing.
Over the coming months, ICON's robotic printer will meticulously construct 100 single-story, three-to-four bedroom homes using a cutting-edge mixture of concrete powder, water, and sand. The massive Vulcan 3D printer, weighing in at 475 tons, will precisely extrude this material to create the homes' foundations, walls, and roofs.
The Genesis Collection, as these 3D-printed homes are called, offers a range of options to meet diverse needs. Prices range from approximately US$450,000 to US$595,000, making them accessible to a wider spectrum of homebuyers. The neighborhood is designed to be energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
