The United States Golf Association (USGA) has unveiled the prize money for the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst No. 2. The total purse will exceed the current US Open record, making it the richest event in the tournament's history.
USGA CEO Mike Whan announced the news on Wednesday, stating that the 2024 US Open will be held at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The renowned course has previously hosted the US Open three times, including in 1999, 2005, and 2014.
The announcement follows the recent record-breaking purse of $20 million for this week's US Open at The Los Angeles Country Club. The historic payout reflects the growing popularity and prestige of the tournament, which is one of the four major championships in professional golf.
