Carlos Alcaraz into Third Round
Carlos Alcaraz, the young Spanish tennis star, has reached the third round of the French Open after a hard-fought victory over qualifier Jesper de Jong. Alcaraz, the third seed, was pushed all the way by the inspired Dutchman but eventually prevailed in four sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
The match was a tight affair throughout, with both players trading blows from the baseline. De Jong, ranked 213th in the world, played with great heart and determination, but Alcaraz's superior power and consistency proved too much in the end.
Alcaraz will now face Karen Khachanov in the third round, who beat Lorenzo Musetti. Alcaraz has been in impressive form so far this tournament, and he will be confident of making a deep run into the draw.
