Arsenal's Big Move

Arsenal to Leave Filmhaus

New Cinema in Silent Green Kulturquartier

The Arsenal - Institute for Film and Video Art is moving out of the Filmhaus on Potsdamer Platz by the end of 2024. The new cinema will open in 2026 in the West Hall of the silent green Kulturquartier in Berlin-Mitte.

The Arsenal has been operating a cinema, archive, distribution company, and independent film production company in the Filmhaus since 1992. The move to the silent green Kulturquartier is part of the Arsenal's long-term plan to create a new center for film and media art in Berlin.

The new cinema will be located in the heart of Berlin's vibrant art scene, next door to the KW Institute for Contemporary Art and the Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin. The Arsenal will also have access to the silent green's extensive event spaces, which will allow it to host a wider range of film screenings, exhibitions, and other events.

The move to the silent green Kulturquartier is a major step forward for the Arsenal. The new cinema will provide the Arsenal with a state-of-the-art facility in which to continue its work of promoting film and media art.
