Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow Faces Season-Ending Injury

Star Quarterback Out for Remainder of 2023 Season

Wrist Ligament Tear Ends Burrow's High-Flying Campaign

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will miss the remainder of the season after tearing a ligament in his right wrist during Thursday night's 34-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Burrow exited the game in the second quarter and was later diagnosed with a torn ligament, a major setback for the Bengals and their playoff hopes.

The injury occurred when Burrow was sacked by Ravens linebacker Justin Houston. Burrow attempted to get up but immediately went back down to the ground, clutching his wrist. He was helped off the field and did not return.

The Bengals confirmed the extent of Burrow's injury on Friday, stating that he will require surgery and will miss the rest of the season.

The loss of Burrow is a crushing blow to the Bengals, who have relied heavily on his leadership and playmaking ability this season. Burrow has led the Bengals to a 5-4 record, including wins over the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills.

With Burrow out for the season, the Bengals will turn to backup quarterback Brandon Allen. Allen has appeared in three games this season, completing 64.9% of his passes for 359 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.

The Bengals' playoff hopes will now rest on Allen's ability to lead the team to victory in the remaining games of the season. The Bengals currently sit in second place in the AFC North, but they will need to finish strong to secure a wild-card berth.

Burrow's injury is a reminder of the fragility of the NFL and the importance of staying healthy. The Bengals will hope that Burrow can make a full recovery and return to his previous level of play in 2024.
